About the Learning Path
This learning path is ment for secondary schools. It contains links and possible tasks to encourage students develop tolerant position toward differences.
It also will permit student to share their production with others throught Internet usuing social networks.
Summary
This LP is intended for 4th Secondary course (or students that are at the age of 16-17) related to worldwide conflits over the past one hundred years.
Taking account of the most recent conflicts in the Middle East and Balcans, students will be able to comeback to the past knowing the most remarkable conflicts that impacted the mankind
At the end, the students will be able to visualise their conclusions on how these conflicts could be avoided and how they can contribute to decrease the risk of new ones.
Objectives
- to develop critical thinking about conflicts
- to upbuild understanding for conflicts and the reasons for them under ethical context and encourage students to be respectful towards different points of view (political, social, religious etc.)
- to show the importance of human rights and the documents and institutions that define and defend them
- to improve students' orientation skills by using google maps
- to build active position the negative consiqueces of conflicts
- to find positive examples and to encourage students finding ways to reinforcement of peace keeping
- to introduce innovative, interactive and colaborative ways of learning
The proposed teaching methodology
- Collaborative learning achieved with:
- Deviding the class in groups of five students and asigning the groups to explore and analyze different area conflicts:
- Europe
- Middle East
- Russia and other parts of Asia
- Africa
- North, Central, South America and Australia
- Creating a google drive document, which allows students to edit on the same content and list the conflicts of the areas
2. Interactive methods for making the learning process more exciting and cultural relevant: brainstorming, mindmapping, newspapermap.com, mindmeister.com, youtube.com, social networks, google maps
3. Discussion and comparison to develop critical thinking about conflicts, negative consequences and possibilities they bring :
