Using Minecraft to teach about place

Summary:
The project is focust on creativity of the students in building a village with previous searching, planning and with presentation afterward. Children are working in teams, they must do some searches, learn about architectury of the building, planning, do some scaches and then "build! a village in minecraft game. All of procedure must be documented and afterward presented.
Target group: students from 14 to 16 years old
Proposed methodology: Project-based approaches
Subjects: It is cross-curricular between art, math, geometry and english
Time frame: 4-6 weeks

The added value to the learner experience
- providing a meaningful context for students to learn concepts and skills;
- making learning fun and enjoyable;
- encouraging students to explore and discover together and on their own;
- allowing students to extend what they are learning;
The proposed teaching methodology: It is a project based learning which develops colaborative problem solving skills, leadership skills, critical thinking, creativity, higher order thinking. The project based learning encourages student self-direction. They have to build the knowledge gained in different areas/subjects and their own skills from the game.

English: developing speaking, writing and presentation skills
Art: developing drawing and sketching, imagination, creativity, architecture, logical thinking, searching for informations
Math: proportions, scaling, combinations, geometry

What opportunities for collaboration will there be?
Students works in groups of 3-5 students and everyone of them has a role. They learn shared responsibility. They decide who will lead which part of project and everyone must cooperate in every part of project.
